This site is a project by me, Dan Bergmann, a minimally-speaking person with autism, in which I am attempting to do two things. One is to provide step-by-step guidance to people who may, without any prior experience, want to spell with me. The other is to assemble what I have learned, noticed and thought over the last 12 1/2 years of spelling my thoughts and being helped to do so. You can reach me with questions, suggestions and comments at danbergmannalb21@icloud.com.
I first made this site as an assignment for a class on Writing in the Sciences. We were assigned to create a technical document, like a lab procedure, a research proposal or an instruction manual. Part of the work in the class was the requirement that we critique each others’ work and revise our own. I want to thank all my classmates, particularly Florence Cruz-Eriksson, Stephen Ferdinando and Michelle Toth Castillo, the professor Tom Akbari, some of my friends in the spelling community, such as Ardythe Ashley, Elizabeth Bonker, Virginia Breen, Jeff Gang, Kate Herzlin, Jonathan Katz, Susan Marshall, Dosia Paslawskyj and Jim Zucco for their comments and suggestions, and my father Michael Bergmann for being my Communication Partner and my mother Meredith Bergmann for her videography.
